Gary DeCarlo of STEAM on Visual Radio Live February 2, 2012

http://www.showbiz411.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/steam.na_.na_.hey_.hey_.kiss_.him_.goodbye.1969.jpg

Visual Radio presents Gary DeCarlo of the group STEAM to talk about his music and career. When fans in sports stadiums start singing "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye...". people think of the voice on the hit recording...that voice is Gary DeCarlo who, most recently, is on a PBS special entitled 60's Pop, Rock & Soul along with previous Visual Radio guests Peter Noone of Herman Hermits, Marty Balin of Jefferson Starship, Mitch Ryder of Detroit, Gary Lewis of The Playboys and Dick Peterson of The Kingsmen.

Joe Tortelli, VR co-host who has contributed to the national Goldmine Magazine - and who recently interviewed Ken Evans of The Fifth Estate, may be co-hosting the show airing this Thursday night at 8 PM on WinCAM - Winchester Community Access & Media. You can tune in at http://www.wincam.org immediately following the 7 PM Wonderful Show featuring Joe LaRocca and Anthony Gaimari.

We'll chat with DeCarlo about "The Demo That Got The Deal" for Steam, how the appearance on the PBS special came together (and how the performance on PBS is a mirror image of the hit single!), and other music recorded by the singer whose song is in millions and millions of homes.

Our film review at 8:45 PM will be LOVE LAUGHS AT ANDY HARDY with noted author and co-host Frank Dello Stritto. This Mickey Rooney film from 1946 was directed by Willis Goldbeck

When the late Jimmy Miller was on the top of the world with the Rolling Stones, he was given a ten-album deal with ABC Records resulting in various releases, including a B.B. King album produced by the late Joe Zagarino, material by Bobby Whitlock, and this extraordinary record by the lead singer of Ten Wheel Drive, Genya Ravan. Jim Price and Joe Zagarino produced the album for Jimmy Miller Productions, with Miller producing only two of the 12 titles, the Stones-ish "Southern Celebration" and Eric Clapton/Bobby Whitlock's "Keep on Growing." This is a great setting for Ravan, her impeccable vocals a perfect fit for an album rife with pop and Southern rock. Jimmy Miller produced Delaney & Bonnie & Friends on Tour With Eric Clapton (and George Harrison incognito), and the legendary status garnered by that classic and the Blind Faith album should've insured this disc a better fate. http://www.allmusic.com/album/they-love-me-they-love-me-not-r47614/review

Letters to Jackie Kennedy

Newton Author/Historian Ellen Fitzpatrick on Visual Radio along with writer/editor Rachel Kramer Bussel; film review Rocketship X-M with guest film historian Frank Dello Stritto

This week on Visual Radio we have Newton historian and author, Ellen Fitzpatrick, chatting via phone about her new book LETTERS TO JACKIE. This 10th Anniversary of 9/11 casts a shadow over that deep, dark moment in American history, the November 22, 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy, forty-eight years ago.

As the publicist notes: "Within seven weeks of the President's death, Jacqueline Kennedy received more than 800,000 condolence letters. Two years later, the volume of correspondence would exceed 1.5 million letters. For the next forty-six years, the letters would remain essentially untouched."

Ellen Fitzpatrick has selected approximately 250 of these letters for inclusion in Letters to Jackie, She will talk to us live, via phone, about how she selected each letter and her perspective on how this book fits into American history and literature.

Rachel Kramer Bussel, erotica writer and editor, has just put out the book
"Obsessed: Erotic Romance for Women". In November, her book "Women in Lust: Erotic Stories" will be out as well. She will also be phoning in to Visual Radio, as will author of Vampire Over London, Bela Lugosi biographer Frank Dello Stritto to talk about the vintage film Rocketship X-M, which airs on http://www.wincam.org on Friday night at 9 PM

Visual Radio Live airs at 8 Pm on http://www.wincam.org

Upcoming guests: Bobby Whitlock of Derek & The Dominoes discussing the re-release of the album LAYLA on September 22; Anthony DeCurtis from Rolling Stone magazine doing a studio taping (via phone) on September 21 regarding the new book he edited BLUES & CHAOS: THE MUSIC WRITING OF ROBERT PALMER, Nat Simpkins talks about Bobby Hebb on September 29
